Folks, the Kakko trade is proof that the Rangers are officially cooked. If you’re a Rangers hater, you may begin to celebrate. If you’re a Rangers fan, I’m sorry.
The Jets, Devils, and Capitals are the top three teams in the league (as of writing this), you know, as we all predicted.
In all seriousness, it has been interesting to me to see how each fanbase is dealing with this. Jets fans are being, well, Jets fans. They’ve been here before quite a bit. They’re acting like it. Caps fans seem to be in a state of disbelief but are having the time of their lives right now. Seriously, it seems like a party just about in every game when I see when Caps fans are posting. Devils fans I follow, though, seem to be permanently stuck in “The sky is falling” mode, and cannot ever find a single thing to be happy about. Well, consistently, that is.
Speaking of parties, do you know what other fanbase is having a party during every game right now? New York Sirens. Yeah. They’re having fun. Whenever their games are on, they’re loud, noticeable, and just having fun. I’m talking about those on Bluesky, of course. I don’t know about the crowd who attends the games, because frankly, I don’t pay much attention to what the crowds are doing during broadcasts. That said, I hope the crowd at the games is having fun. Anyway, on social media, at least, they’re having fun. I mean, who can blame them? If I got to watch Alex Carpenter and Sarah Fillier every game, I’d be having a party every game as well.
Ok, this is cheating as it’s not one of my thoughts, but it’s a tweet I have to share:
I'm not sure why the PWHL thought going onto Twitch would be a good idea. It’s used far less than YouTube and has a far worse reputation. Everyone has a YouTube account. Not everyone has a Twitch account. Plus, once again, Twitch doesn’t have the greatest reputation anyway. Just not sure why the PWHL thought it was a good idea to try to stream on Twitch instead of YouTube. Glad they quickly moved on from that, though. Because I’m going to be real: even though I do have a Twitch account, I never use it. I just simply wouldn’t watch PWHL games if they were on Twitch. The only times I ever use my Twitch account is when huge breaking news happens so I can see Hasan Piker’s reaction to it. That’s genuinely it.
If I were the Red Wings, I'd at least seriously consider looking into acquiring Stanislav Svozil. Why? Well, quite frankly, the Red Wings don't have a second-pairing left-hand defender for the future. I thought William Wallinder would be that guy, but the more time goes on, the less likely that's looking. Svozil is close to being NHL-ready and should be second-pairing quality. He's solid offensively and will put up points, without being a defensive liability. He's not a shutdown defender by any means, but I would say he's a bit above average defensively. Good enough for the second pairing. He and Sandin Pellikka could make for a terrifying second pairing, one that maintains possession and keeps threatening in the offensive zone, while not being useless in the defensive zone. He may not be the tallest, only 6'0, but his skill is there.
Now, you, the reader are probably wondering "Ok, but why would the Blue Jackets give up Svozil?" The answer is simple: they have too many promising LHD prospects and Mateychuk is a far, far, better option for the second pairing LHD than Svozil. As much as I like Svozil, he's not Mateychuk. So, someone is going to have to get traded at some point to make the Blue Jackets better. Svozil is the type of player teams would want, and frankly, the Blue Jackets do have a better option for the second pairing of the future in Mateychuk. He's expendable. They can trade him and get something of value from Detroit.
Alright, I’ve had enough. Some people need to hear some hard truths. When I say “some people”, I mean, a large portion of the Columbus Blue Jackets fanbase. Ivan Provorov is not good. I know that hurts your feelings to hear. You love getting to “own the libs” and those “stupid queer puck bunny bitches” on Twitter. It gives you a temporary thrill in your incredibly miserable lives.
One “own” that’s been used a lot this season is “Where are Provorov haters now?” “Haven’t heard from the Provorov haters lately”, and “Funny the Provorov haters are nowhere to be seen when he scores”. I have two responses for you, so pay attention. Don’t worry, I’ll keep it short so you can get back to harassing 15-year-old lesbian Swifties on Twitter. Anyway:
Maybe the question that should be getting answered is: “Where are the Provorov defenders when he turns the puck over in overtime" or "Where are the Provorov defenders when doesn't do anything defensively on a breakaway?” Are you upset by this? Good. Now, shove your bad faith questions on the line of “Where are the Provorov haters when he scores” straight up your ass. You’re not triggering anyone. You’re exposing yourself for the sad pathetic loser you are who has no life outside of harassing those with less power than you.
As Billy Howell stated, “The idea that a player being good at the hockey excuses being a hateful person is just sad”. Even if Ivan was good at hockey, it still wouldn’t excuse being a trash human being.
But, oh, let me guess. I’m unprofessional for doing this. This isn’t the platform or the way to do this. I’m not listening to criticisms of this part of the article. These bigoted freaks have made the lives of me and my friends miserable for about a year and a half now. When Provorov got traded I and some friends had to go on private for days because the harassment was so intense. The death threats I received I won’t soon forget. All because they saw this as the organization giving a green light to harassment of queers. So, they immediately went in after us. Some of the biggest accounts went after me, like Union Blue Soldiers, and when I dared fight back, they bravely blocked me. These bigots are cowards. When they believe they have the power they love to punch down. If you dare punch up at them, though, they immediately run away. Losers. Or, how about Hefty Duck at Brew Jackets? This man really pretended as if he was some welcoming figure who really was just accepting of all, only to reveal his bigotry the moment Provorov got traded. Also, looking at you Union & Blue (yes, the Twitter account of the Fansided site), and CBJ Haters, who actively sent harassment towards queer users. You’ve actively made the lives of queer and young female users worse and faced no repercussions for it. I haven’t forgotten. I know I’ll be the bad one for calling you all out, but I don’t care. I know nothing will change. Everyone will continue to act as if they’re great people who should totally be lifted up as representatives of the community. You know what though? You’re right. They SHOULD be lifted up as representatives of the community. The Blue Jackets fanbase is a backward fanbase that actively despises anyone who’s not cishet and white. You represent the fanbase perfectly. Sure, there are these freaks in every fanbase. The difference is, though, that in other fanbases, the progressive side is noticeable. You can usually quickly find progressive fans. In the Blue Jackets fanbase? Yeah no. You better hope they come to you and find you. But, here are some actually good Blue Jackets fans on Twitter: Hailey, zac!, Adelle, Keya, Kae, and Livie. On Bluesky, the Blue Jackets community frankly doesn’t post much about the Blue Jackets. There are a lot of progressive Blue Jackets fans on there, just don’t expect them to actually post much about them. But hey, you can find me on there and I do have a starter pack so you can easily find some Blue Jackets fans on the site, along with a feed I made so you can quickly find site-wide discussion about the team.
Anyway. I have been holding this grudge for a long time. I’m angry, I’m hurt. I have friends who are hurt. All because bigotry is encouraged in this fanbase. None of the big accounts stuck up for me and my friends. They either joined in on the harassment or kept silent. As flawed as the Red Wings fanbase is (and I’ve gone on rants about them on here), at least most of the bigger accounts are openly progressive and will speak up or fight if there’s mass harassment going on. I know people will have my back there. In the Blue Jackets fanbase: the resentment towards minorities is real and encouraged.
