Friends, today we begin a new series: World-Wide Wednesday. What is it? It’s a look at hockey around the world, that is, hockey outside North America. Whether it comes to culture, politics, or even sports, we here in North America are very, well, American-centric. To an extent, it’s understandable. America and Canada are massive countries, and so a lot is always going on. But, being so American-centric isn’t good, as we aren’t the center of the world. So, this series is made to help broaden horizons. To be honest, I’m doing this more for me than even you the reader, as I struggle to stop being so American-centric in everything. Not saying I haven’t followed international hockey in the past, but it was always to a limited extent. So, let’s dig in and see what’s going on around the world in hockey this past week.
Also, before we start: we are in the middle of the off-season for this newsletter currently. From July 30-October 1, all articles will be exclusive to paid subscribers.
